Mr. Johnson is a Denver criminal defense attorney who also handles civil legal matters throughout the Denver Metropolitan area.  He began his legal career in the federal courthouse in Brooklyn, New York, as a law clerk to a United States magistrate judge. Mr. Johnson then worked as associate attorney at Pepper Hamilton LLP in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he defended Fortune 500 clients in more than 100 product liability lawsuits in state and federal court.

At Pepper Hamilton, in addition to his civil law practice, Mr. Johnson was a member of a group of attorneys who worked to found the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, a non-profit legal clinic devoted to overturning wrongful criminal convictions. In addition to his private clients, Mr. Johnson handles criminal matters as court-appointed counsel for clients in various Colorado courts and jurisdictions. 

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Johnson worked as a print journalist, writing and researching articles for national publications including The New York Times, Esquire and Rolling Stone. A resident of New York City on September 11, 2001, he shared a national journalism award with a team of fellow journalists for coverage of the terrorist attacks and their lingering effects on the city.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Mr. Johnson spent three years as a volunteer with the United States Peace Corps in Guinea, West Africa.
